I did not like this book at all. The development of the "containment" policy, formulated by George Kennan, which largely shaped the Cold War, is also well dissected. I really enjoyed this book to chapter 4 and believe it's worth the read. He moved from job to job, never being successful in any of them. In the end, however, that publication was waylaid by the eruption of World War II and the manuscript was forgotten.
